On August 16, Minister Liu Guangyuan and Minister Yang Zigang attended a party held by the overseas Chinese and Chinese American community in the greater Washington area.

In his remarks, Minister Liu expressed his gratitude to all overseas Chinese and Chinese American in the greater Washington area. He recalled their enormous support to Olympic Games held in Beijing and generous donation to the earthquake-stricken area in China, and spoke highly of their great contributions in enhancing the friendship of the peoples of both China and the United States, promoting exchanges between our two peoples. Minister Liu hoped they could do a better job in the future.

Minister Yang thanked all participants for their warm welcome, and expressed his willingness to provide better consular assistance and services to all overseas Chinese and Chinese Americans.
